After the deadly building collapse in Bangkok caused by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar on March 28, 2025, a temporary shelter was set up near the site for the families of missing workers. Even though the earthquake’s center was over 1,200 kilometers away, Bangkok still suffered serious damage. A high-rise building collapsed, with 15 of the 22 confirmed victims among those who did not survive, according to city officials. Around 70 workers are still missing. The shelter has been filled with grief, as families wait anxiously for news. But a small moment of hope came when K9 USAR Thailand’s search dogs arrived, bringing comfort during the ongoing rescue efforts.

This non-profit group works with the Thai government on disaster and relief missions. They brought trained golden retrievers to help find people trapped under the debris. While their main job is search and rescue, the dogs also provide emotional support. Alongkot Chukaew, the group’s deputy director, shared that dogs like Sahara and Safari help calm families, especially children. Their gentle nature brings moments of peace to those in pain. The team chose dogs with kind, friendly temperaments to give a sense of hope and care. Despite the tough conditions, these dogs offer comfort and symbolize strength, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping others in times of need.
