At the Winter Olympic Games in Cortina, Italy, Iran’s ski coach Mitra Kalhor spoke about American skier Lindsey Vonn after a crash on Sunday. Vonn hurt her leg during a race. Kalhor said Vonn is strong and inspiring, even though she did not win a medal in the event. The Olympic Games bring athletes from many countries together. Politics is not the focus inside the Olympic village.
Athletes enjoy a fun activity at the Games. They trade small national pins. This activity started in 1896. Iran has a small team with four athletes, so its pins are special. Many athletes want an Iranian pin. Kalhor gave her last pin to a security guard. She felt happy that all her pins were gone early in the Games.
