Avengers: Infinity War, which came out last April 27, marked the culmination of Marvel’s cinematic universe. With a decade and 18 movies worth of build-up, the first of the 2-part saga was a smashing success, breaking the opening weekend box office records in the US and globally with $250m and $630m, respectively. You might be wondering what’s in store for Earth’s mightiest heroes. Luckily, the lineup of upcoming films unveiled by Walt Disney Studios gives us an idea of what we can look forward to in the next 2 years. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

Captain Marvel (March 2019)
If you were patient enough to wait for Infinity War‘s after-credits scene, you’d know that there’s a Captain Marvel movie ahead of us. In it, we are brought back to the 1990’s to get to know Carol Danvers, the new addition to the Avengers line-up. How exactly they are going to explain her absence in Infinity War, we’ll find out on March 9, 2019.

Avengers 4 (May 2019)
Infinity War left fans devastated as the heroes experienced utter defeat in the hands of the mad titan Thanos, but some remain hopeful with Avengers 4 in sight. Infinity War‘s success definitely poses a challenge for the cast and directors of the following films, but we can only wait as we grind our teeth until its release in May 2019.

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 (July 2019)
We’re not entirely sure what they plan to do here following the events of Infinity War. Spider-Man left on a heartbreaking note as he disintegrated into dust, with Tom Holland’s improvised line of “I don’t want to go.” Perhaps he will be brought back to life, or another face will be wearing Spider-Man’s mask – we won’t know until July next year.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 2020)
Just like Homecoming 2, little can be said about GotG Vol. 3. The gut-wrenching deaths of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, and Groot in Infinity War mean trouble for GotG‘s third installment. Optimistically speaking, it might mean that our favorite bunch of rebels will be brought back to life. If not, that leaves Rocket Raccoon to find new members to fill their spots.
