Approximately 15.1 percent was reduced from the original number of elderly smokers who smoked regular cigarettes. The sudden decrease was caused by elderly smokers who started using electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes.
An e-cigarette is a device used as a substitute for regular cigarettes. It is thought to be a safer alternative because it uses vapour or gas from heated liquid. On the other hand, a regular cigarette uses smoke which produces tar. At the moment, public health officials are doing further studies about e-cigarettes and its possible effects.
