The British government approved Heathrow’s airport expansion. The lawmakers voted in favor of the third airfield construction that could start in 2021. For years, the proposal has been controversial because of air traffic, level of noise in nearby cities, and air pollution crisis that the opposing team looked into over the debates.

750 homes in the villages of Longford, Sipson, and Harmondsworth will be razed to make way for the construction. By 2030, Heathrow expects passengers to increase from nearly 80 million to 110 million per year. The third strip will be built alongside the two existing strips. Transport secretary Chris Grayling thinks that the expansion would contribute to London’s economic growth.
