Starting 2019, English-speaking Artifical Intelligence (AI) robots will help 500 Japanese classrooms. The pilot project will cost 250 million yen which aims to help the English proficiency of the students and teachers. The project will also help improve the oral and written English skills of the Japanese students.

The trial projects includes AI robots, online lessons, and tablet apps. Also, there will be a change in the national curriculum in two years. This will require children as early as 10 years old to learn English.
