An art exhibit presenting Osamu Tezuka’s works is held at the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Hyogo Prefecture. This is to celebrate Osamu Tezuka’s 90th birthday. Tezuka is well-known for his creation of the manga series Astro Boy that became a huge hit in France when its animated TV series was aired in the aforementioned country. The special event is called Osamu Tezuka – Manga no Kamisama or Osamu Tezuka – God of Manga in English which was also the nickname given to the distinguished artist.

The exhibition started on November 3, 2018, but is temporarily closed from December to March 2019 for renovation. The original presentation took place in France as part of the Angouleme International Comics Festival held in the western French city. After the success of Astro Boy in the country in the 1980s, his imported works began influencing Western artists in the following years. It has five parts in total that exhibit the evolution of Tezuka’s style related to the changes in Japan’s society.
