A sumo grand champion named Kisenosato Yutaka announced his retirement on January 16, 2019. The wrestler decided to retire after participating in the 15-day New Year Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo. He had a score of 0-3 after losing from komusubi Mitakeumi and first-rate maegashira Ichinojo and Tochiozan. He had been a professional sumo wrestler since 2002 and was also the first Japanese-born wrestler who became a yokozuna. His eight straight losses stopped him to continue his sumo career.
