Facebook’s chief, Mark Zuckerberg, calls for the government’s ‘active role’ in managing the internet by updating the rules of the internet. To protect people from harm, he mentioned the needs of new rules of these four areas: dangerous content, protection of elections, privacy, and data portability. He said that it would be good for the internet if many countries adopted the General Data Protection Regulation as a common framework. Zuckerburg said that there should be an agreed standard of what is considered harmful content. A report also says that Facebook has already made important changes in political ads asking different countries to prove their identities before buying political ads. “It is now time to update the rules to give clear responsibilities for people, companies, and governments going forward”, the Facebook chief added.
