ByteDance announced Kevin Mayer started his career on June 1st as chief executive officer of TikTok. Kevin Mayer is Walt Disney’s streaming executive who has now officially resigned to join the Chinese giant tech group, ByteDance. He exhibited his streaming strategy in creating Disney + that gathered 50 million subscribers in just 5 months. “(He is) one of the world’s most accomplished entertainment executives”, TikTok founder Zhang Yiming in his statement as he acknowledged Kevin Mayer. As TikTok was created under its mother company ByteDance in 2016, the app gained popularity around the world. TikTok users can easily make their short dance, music, and funny videos using the app’s music and filters. Mayer stated, “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the amazing team at ByteDance.” On the other hand, Rebecca Campbell takes over Mayer’s position in Disney that covers the streaming division.
