K-pop group BTS smashes YouTube’s all-time records for the most viewed music video with 101.1 million views within 24 hours. Their latest single entitled “Dynamite” is their first-ever track written entirely in English. “Dynamite” also happened to break another record for the biggest music video premiere on Youtube, amassing over 3 million concurrent viewers worldwide last August 21. The nearly four-minute retro-inspired video featured colorful visuals and disco vibe, and paid homage to artists like Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Rolling Stones.

The septet consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook told the press that “Dynamite” aims to bring a much needed positivity in the time of the coronavirus pandemic. Jimin shares, “As artists we felt empty and helpless and we needed a breakthrough to overcome this emptiness, and we came across this opportunity to try something new. “Dynamite” is a song that can lift anyone’s spirits”. BTS performed “Dynamite” at the recent MTV Video Music Awards and bagged awards in four categories: Best Pop, Best KPop, Best Group, and Best Choreography. “Dynamite” also topped at #1 in Billboard Hot 100 making it the only song by an Asian act to debut straight at number 1 in the chart.
