K-pop group BTS slams YouTube’s highest record for the most viewed music video with 101.1 million views in 24 hours. Their song named “Dynamite” is their first ever work written completely in English. It has also broken another record for the largest music video premiere on YouTube, gathering over 3 million views simultaneously last August 21. The nearly four-minute video featured a retro concept with colorful visuals and paid tribute to icons like Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Rolling Stones.

The seven-member group consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook told the press that “Dynamite” intends to bring positivity in this coronavirus pandemic. Jimin shared that as artists, BTS felt empty and helpless and that they needed a breakthrough to overcome the emptiness brought by the coronavirus crisis. The boy band performed their single at the recent MTV Video Music Awards and won in four categories: Best Pop, Best Kpop, Best Group, and Best Choreography. It also hit #1 at the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first Asian group to debut straight at number 1 in the chart.
