Emirati scientists are working on another historic mission: building a lunar rover. The United Arab Emirates became the first Arab country to launch a spacecraft into orbit around Mars earlier last month. It will be the tiniest rover ever to land on the moon, as well as a first for the area. The UAE’s rover will be around 21 inches (54 centimeters) long and 3.3 inches (8.5 centimeters) tall, weighing about 22 pounds (10 kilograms). In 2024, the Emirates Lunar Mission will go to a part of the moon that no man has ever gone. The exact landing site is still unknown, but the aim is to learn more about lunar dust and rock variations around the moon. The team plans to study the moon’s soil in detail.
