International singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne officially joined TikTok last June 21, 2021, with a video of her singing along to her 2002 hit “Sk8er Boi” channeling her classic pop-punk getup. It got even more remarkable when the real-life ‘Sk8er boi’ Tony Hawk appeared, showing some skateboarding tricks. “I just posted my first TikTok with the legendary Tony Hawk… go check it out!” Lavigne wrote in the caption.

The video appeared at the same time on Lavigne’s and Hawk’s TikTok pages for Go Skateboarding Day, a yearly event organized by the International Association of Skateboard Companies. In the “Sk8er Boi” musical throwback, the 36-year-old singer rocks her classic street attire– black-on-black outfit, Chuck Taylor Converse, and a muscle t-shirt–similar to those she would have worn several years ago. Hanging around Lavigne’s neck is a loose necktie, which is also used in shifting from her lip-syncing clip to 53-year-old Hawk’s special skating walk-on.

“Sk8er Boi” was from Lavigne’s first album released in 2002, “Let Go”, which is now multi-platinum in the United States and certified diamond in Canada. Fans of Lavigne were thrilled watching the video, pointing out that the pop-punk princess’ e-girl style has not changed.
