Online game Fortnite has been removed from the Apple App Store due to a violation committed by its creator, Epic Games. Epic’s chief Tim Sweeney said the ongoing legal process could take at least five years. “This is another extraordinary anti-competitive move by Apple, demonstrating their power to reshape markets and choose winners and losers,” Sweeney said on Twitter. The game was originally removed from the App Store in August last year because of using its own payment system that skipped Apple’s 30% commission. With this, Epic has accused Apple of unjustly controlling its App Store. Meanwhile, a recent US court hearing in September ruled that Apple could not stop app creators to use other payment options. However, a judge explained that Epic failed to prove its claim against Apple being illegally controlled. Users who have the game downloaded on their Apple devices will still be able to play it, but they will not be able to update the application.
