The organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest have decided that the UK will host the event next year instead of Ukraine. The host of the contest is usually the winner, but the Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the event, started working with a news program last month after checking Ukraine’s situation. Manchester, Sheffield, and London have already mentioned that they want to make a formal approach. Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Brighton, Bristol, Belfast, Cardiff, and Nottingham are other candidates. The UK has hosted Eurovision eight times, more than any other country. Ukraine will now join the Big Five—the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain—as the champion automatically makes it to the Grand Final. The Grand Final of the competition has not yet been planned, but it usually takes place in May.
