A remarkable 19-year-old pianist named Yunchan Lim, often compared to K-pop in the classical music world, has just signed an exclusive contract with Decca Records in the UK. Yunchan, who comes from South Korea, discovered his love for the piano through the music his mother used to play when he was young. He began taking piano lessons at the age of seven and joined the Music Academy of Seoul Arts Center a year later. His extraordinary talent was recognized early, and he’s been described as a humble student by his teachers. Yunchan made headlines in 2022 when he won the prestigious Van Cliburn Piano Competition in Texas, becoming the youngest winner ever. He played Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, and this remarkable performance has been viewed over 12 million times on YouTube. After receiving offers from various record companies, Yunchan decided to collaborate with the renowned British label, Decca, known for its commitment to high-quality music.

In addition to winning international recognition, Yunchan Lim has already released two recordings featuring works by Liszt and Beethoven. His upcoming studio recording, set to be launched by Decca in the spring of 2024, has generated much excitement in the classical music world. According to Decca’s co-president, Tom Lewis, Yunchan is widely regarded as the most promising emerging classical artist globally, and Decca is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him. His incredible talent, nurtured from a young age, has left an indelible mark on the world of classical music, and he continues to impress audiences worldwide with his musical depth and mastery.
