The historical drama “Shogun,” set in feudal Japan, received 25 nominations on July 17, 2024, making it the top contender for this year’s Emmy Awards. The FX network series is nominated for best drama, competing with Netflix’s “The Crown” and Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show.” Another FX series, “The Bear,” earned 23 nominations, the most for a comedy series, for its portrayal of a Chicago sandwich shop transforming into a world-class dining spot. Other comedy nominees include ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” and HBO’s “Hacks.” Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer,” a show about a bartender stalked by a customer, is nominated for best limited series, competing with Netflix’s “Ripley,” FX’s “Fargo,” and HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country.” Netflix led all networks with 107 nominations, followed by FX with 93 and HBO with 91. The Emmy winners will be announced on September 15. Nearly 22,000 Television Academy members selected the nominees, including performers, directors, and producers.
