At the Paris Olympics, Shinnosuke Oka won the gold medal in men’s gymnastics. He is only 20 years old and is the youngest member of the Japanese team. This was his second gold medal. He won by a small margin against two very talented Chinese gymnasts. This was surprising because Daiki Hashimoto, who won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and was expected to lead the team, finished in sixth place. Earlier, the Japanese team also beat China in the team event, showing their strong performance. Oka’s success came from his perfect routines and steady skills. Unlike other gymnasts, including Hashimoto, who made mistakes, Oka did everything perfectly. The final event, the high bar, was very tense because the difference between Oka and the second-place gymnast, Zhang Boheng, was very small. Even though Oka was nervous, he stayed focused and did well. He admired the skill of the Chinese gymnasts but was committed to doing his best. Inspired by famous gymnast Kohei Uchimura, Oka is excited to keep improving and achieve even greater success in future competitions.
