Passengers of the Villa Vie Residences’ Odyssey cruise ship will embark on a three-and-a-half-year global voyage from Belfast on Monday, October 7, after months of delays due to unexpected repairs. The Odyssey, promoted as the world’s first continual cruise, allows passengers to either purchase cabins for the ship’s operational life or rent them for specific segments of the journey. Originally scheduled to depart in May, the ship was held in Belfast to address issues with its rudders and gearbox. After completing a series of sea trials, the Odyssey announced on social media that it had received approval from the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Public Health authorities, and it is ready to begin its long-awaited journey.

The inaugural voyage will last 1,301 days, traveling across all seven continents and stopping at 425 ports, including major cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Singapore. The ship, which has a capacity of 650 passengers, is equipped with amenities including restaurants, a pool, a spa, a business center, and medical facilities. During the delay, passengers were compensated with accommodation in Belfast and other European cities. Some travelers, like Melody and John Hennessee, plan to live on the ship permanently, while others, such as Canadian Gian Perroni and American Angela Harsanyi, found romance during the wait and recently announced their engagement. The Odyssey offers a unique experience, making it an exciting and lasting adventure for its passengers.
