Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park is a big garden in Long Island, New York. It started in 1913. Businessman William Robertson Coe and his wife bought the land to build a quiet home. The house is called Coe Hall. The garden has many beautiful plants. Famous designers worked on it. The Olmsted Brothers continued the design after the first person passed away. The park is special because it still looks like it did before. Other places changed into houses or golf areas. A new book now gives comprehensive information. It shows pictures and old plans from professionals.

The park is now changing again to help nature. A revitalization project is in progress. New local plants and oak trees are growing there. These trees are good for the environment. The grass fields, or meadows, are now cut less often. This helps animals and bugs live there. A new garden will be made by Piet Oudolf, a renowned designer from the Netherlands. The park is the biggest commission by the Olmsted Brothers. This makes it exceptional. The people taking care of the park said the goal is to protect both the garden’s history and nature.
