Yared Nuguse is a runner from the United States. He runs in middle-distance races, like the 1,500 meters. In 2025, he set a world record at the Millrose Games in New York. He ran one mile in 3 minutes and 46.63 seconds. Another runner, Jakob Ingebrigtsen from Norway, broke this record five days later. In the 2024 Paris Olympics, Nuguse won a bronze medal in the 1,500 meters. It was his first time winning a medal at the Olympics.

Nuguse grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. A gym teacher told him to try running. Before running, Nuguse wanted to be a dentist. He studied biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame. He wanted to run at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, but he got hurt and could not join the race. Now, Nuguse trains in Boulder, Colorado, with coach Dathan Ritzenhein. He runs for the Grand Slam Track league. Nuguse has stopped his dream of being a dentist to focus on running. In 2025, he said he is gay. This helped people talk more about fairness and kindness in sports. Nuguse also likes taking care of his pet tortoise, Tyro.
