More people in cities like London and other parts of North America are now using GPS pet trackers. This is happening because more pets have gone missing in the past year. GPS pet trackers go on a pet’s collar and show where the pet is in real time. They use GPS and 4G signals and connect to a mobile application. Companies like Tractive, Jiobit, and Pawfit make trackers for cats and dogs. One worker at Tractive said the tracker works well in most places but may not work in faraway areas. Some countries still ask pet owners to use microchips. But experts said microchips do not show a pet’s location and must be scanned by a vet or shelter. Most trackers cost less than $100, but users also pay a fee every year. The battery usually lasts two or three days.

These trackers also have other features like safe zone alerts and Bluetooth to help find lost collars. One study showed that pets go back to the same places often. Experts said Bluetooth trackers only work in small indoor areas. Even with limits, GPS trackers help people find lost pets more easily.
