Starbucks said it will make changes to help its U.S. stores. The company will add new drinks and improve store service. This news came after the company’s third-quarter report. Starbucks made $9.5 billion from April to June, which was 4% more than before. But sales in U.S. stores went down by 2%. This was the sixth time in a row that sales dropped. People spent more money per visit, but fewer people came to the stores. In China, Starbucks stores did better. The company is looking at 20 new business ideas to grow in small cities in China, said CEO Brian Niccol.

In the U.S., Starbucks will start a new plan in August called the “Green Apron Service.” It was tested in 1,500 stores. The goal is to give better service and help workers during busy hours. New store software helps finish 80% of orders in four minutes. Starbucks will also make the menu simpler and add new drinks like protein foam drinks, energy drinks, and coconut water. There will also be gluten-free food. Starbucks is changing store designs too, adding drive-thrus and more seats. These ideas are to bring back more customers and improve sales.
