A report from the EAT-Lancet Commission was released on October 1, 2025. It said that about 15 million lives every year could be saved, and farm pollution could fall by 15 percent if people eat healthier diets with more plants. The study was written by scientists from many countries. It showed that food choices are very important for health, climate change, and nature. The researchers warned that without changes in the food system, the worst results of climate change cannot be avoided. The report suggested a “planetary health diet.” This diet includes grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, and nuts. It allows small amounts of animal protein and dairy but says red meat should be eaten only about once a week, especially in rich countries.

The report also said that farming is linked to problems such as loss of animals and plants, land damage, and dirty water. Scientists said small changes in diet can lower the chance of sickness such as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and also reduce climate problems. Cutting beef and lamb in rich nations could lower gases equal to Russia’s yearly total. More progress could happen with better crops and less food waste. Experts said the study shows how food, farming, and health are all connected.
