Archaeologists found a Roman stone coffin during digging work in Budapest, Hungary. The coffin was closed for about 1,700 years. When researchers opened it, they saw a full skeleton and many objects. These objects included glass bottles, bronze figures and many coin pieces. Experts said the tomb was very special because nobody had opened it before. The lid stayed closed with metal clamps and lead. Because of this, everything inside stayed in very good condition.

Scientists were very careful when they studied the tomb and the bones. The objects in the grave show that the woman’s family placed gifts beside her when she died. This was a common custom in ancient Roman culture. Archaeologists think the woman may have belonged to an important or rich family living near the Roman town of Aquincum.
