Fox News anchor Chris Wallace announced his departure from Fox News after 18 years of moderating the flagship weekly political program “Fox News Sunday” since 2003. The high-profile news personality is joining CNN for a weekday show. “I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I’m interested in,” the reputable news pillar said. “After 18 years — this is my final Fox News Sunday,” Wallace said on his final airing. “It is the last time — and I say this with real sadness — we will meet like this.”
Wallace will take a new adventure in CNN as a news anchor for streaming service CNN+, which will launch in early 2022. “I am thrilled to join CNN+,” Wallace said in a statement. “After decades in broadcast and cable news, I am excited to explore the world of streaming. I look forward to the new freedom and flexibility streaming affords in interviewing major figures across the news landscape — and finding new ways to tell stories.” CNN’s press release reported that Wallace’s weekday show will feature interviews with newsmakers across politics, business, sports, and culture. CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker said the company is thrilled for having Chris help them build the next generation of CNN and news. Meanwhile, members of the Fox News staff are devastated by Wallace’s exit. “Sad to see Chris go — he’s had an amazing run at ‘Fox News Sunday,'” chief political anchor Bret Baier wrote on Twitter. With Wallace’s leave, Fox is set to rotate hosts on “Fox News Sunday” until a permanent one is chosen.
