Plans have been announced for the world’s second Sphere in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This project was revealed by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism with Sphere Entertainment Company. The new Sphere is expected to improve the region’s entertainment sector. Abu Dhabi will pay a franchise fee to Sphere Entertainment for copying the original Sphere’s design from Las Vegas. The local government will cover the construction costs and yearly payments for creative content. This project is part of Abu Dhabi’s plan to diversify its entertainment options and attract more tourists. The Sphere in Las Vegas opened in 2023 and cost $2.3 billion. It features the world’s largest LED screen and has 17,500 seats. The Abu Dhabi Sphere aims to stand out from nearby Dubai, which is also growing its entertainment industry. Experts warn that past projects in the UAE, like a canceled Sphere in East London, faced delays due to economic issues. The success of this new project will depend on careful planning and economic stability to positively impact the region’s economy.
