Chair yoga is a type of yoga that people can do while sitting on a chair. It is good for older adults and people with health problems. Chair yoga started in 1982. A yoga teacher named Lakshmi Voelker made it for a student with arthritis who could not do floor exercises. Now, many people do chair yoga in health programs, care centers, and offices. Chair yoga is easier than normal yoga, but it still helps the body. It makes balance, movement, and strength better, especially for old people. A study in 2023 said that women over 65 with knee problems felt better after doing chair yoga.Chair yoga helps people move their muscles and sit up straight. It can also stop people from falling. Even if the movements are soft, they are still very helpful. Another study in 2012 said that only 15 minutes of chair yoga helped people feel less stress in the body and mind. Chair yoga also uses deep breathing to help people feel calm and think clearly. Anyone can try it, no matter their body or age. Now, more men and people from different places are also starting to join chair yoga. It is a good way to stay healthy.
