Secret tunnels under the city of London will open in 2028. The tunnels are 30 meters underground in the Holborn area. They were built in 1940 during World War II. The tunnels were made to protect 8,000 people from bombs. But when the tunnels were finished in 1942, people were already using other shelters. Later, the tunnels were used by a secret group and then for telephone work during the Cold War. Now, the government has a plan to open the 8,400-square-meter space for visitors. The new site will have a war museum, a place to remember World War II, and a deep underground bar.

The tunnels were very important in the past. In the 1950s, they were used for long-distance telephone calls. In 1962, they were part of a special phone line between the United States and the Soviet Union. This was during a time of danger called the Cuban Missile Crisis. The new museum will show how spies worked and how to find false information. It will also have things from secret missions. About 4.2 million people are expected to visit each year. This project will help people learn more about history.
