A study in the United States was shared on July 29 at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference and published in JAMA. The study was done in many places in the U.S. and had 2,100 people aged 60 to 79. These people had a high chance of getting dementia. The study wanted to know if eating healthy food, doing exercise, and playing brain games could stop memory problems. The research got support from the Alzheimer’s Association and the National Institute on Aging. A study in Finland had the same result. But this study showed it also works in America, where many people do not move much. The result was very reliable.

The people joined a program for two years. They did four workout sessions each week. They also ate food like fish, berries, and vegetables. They joined online brain games and had time to talk with others. The mix of exercise, brain work, and friends helped the brain. Experts said the brain acted younger by one or two years. The comprehensive program helped people feel more fulfilled and more balanced. Experts said this plan is good for the heart and the brain.
