Elon Musk launched a new website called Grokipedia on October 27, 2025. It is an online encyclopedia made by his company xAI. The website, Grokipedia.com, wants to be a competitor to Wikipedia, which many people use to find information. Musk said Grokipedia’s goal is to show “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” At the moment, Grokipedia has about 885,000 articles, while Wikipedia has more than seven million in English. The site has a simple design with a search bar for people to look up topics such as Taylor Swift or Buckingham Palace. Musk said he made Grokipedia because he thinks Wikipedia is not fair and shows bias, and he has told people not to donate to it.Grokipedia is different from Wikipedia because it uses artificial intelligence instead of volunteer editors. It is supported by the same xAI system that runs Musk’s chatbot, Grok, but it is still unclear how articles are written or checked. Experts found that some Grokipedia articles are similar to Wikipedia’s but have fewer sources. For example, the Grokipedia article about the Chola Dynasty only lists three references. Some people worry that the website may not always be accurate, but others think it is an interesting new use of AI for sharing knowledge online.
