Six planets appeared together in the sky at the end of February. This event is called a planetary parade. The planets were close together on one side of the sun. They did not form a perfect line, but they looked near each other after sunset. Many people went outside to look at the evening sky.

Four planets could be seen without a telescope if the sky were clear. Two other planets needed special tools to see them. People looked to the west about one hour after sunset. It was easy to know the difference between a planet and a star. Stars usually twinkle, but planets shine with steady light. The event lasted for several days before one planet slowly disappeared.
