The Team New Zealand’s sailors have replaced the traditional arm-powered winches with cycle-style grinders for the 35th America’s Cup event in Bermuda. Four bikes on each of their new AC50 catamaran’s hulls will render the power to supply the hydraulic systems, which raise and lower the foils and pull in the huge wing sail. The new AC50 catamaran’s hulls contains some of the most updated and powerful technology ever used in the said competition. There are only six crew allowed on board, the helmsman and the wing trimmer who concentrate on sail settings, and four sailors to produce all the power needed. Validating the first win of Arrogate against California Chrome last November, the former took home the richest prize in thoroughbred racing last Saturday at Pegasus World Cup in Florida. Everyone was transfixed on Arrogate and California Chrome as many hopefuls expected the latter to redeem himself from his loss last November, but the former prevailed. Arrogate did not fail jockey Mike Smith as the duo took home a whopping $7 million. Shaman Ghost came in second while Neolithic finished third. California Chrome and jockey Victor Espinoza finished ninth. Twelve horses ran the race, and their owners paid $1 million each earning this event the richest pot in horse racing history….

  Asian Olympic Council president Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah said Sapporo has all the facilities needed to organize the Winter Olympics for the second time. Sapporo hosted the Winter Games in 1972 and city officials are considering a bid for 2026. It would mean that the IOC would return to a city in Asia for a third straight time following Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018 and Beijing in 2022. Sapporo is capable and ready, Sheikh Al Fahad said while in Sapporo for the Asian Winter Games. The facilities being used for the Asian Winter Games were built for the 19 72 Games and are showing signs of age….
