The Israeli government wanted to deport the male African migrants to another sub-Saharan country in February. However, the United Nations Refugee Agency appealed to the Israeli government to reassess their plan. The initial plan was to offer migrants $3500 and send them to Rwanda. Some right group advocates who were speaking in behalf of the migrants, however, cited the dangers of deporting them in another country.

According to the advocates, the refugees are still at risk despite Israel’s monetary and plane ticket offer. The right group advocates also said that those migrants who relocated to another Sub-Saharan country in the past experienced abuse, torture, and death along the way. The African migrants from Sudan and Eritrea found refuge in Israel. The Jewish state has been their home after experiencing war, slavery and persecution in Africa.
