Summer has already begun in Japan, and along it comes the sweltering heat, sightseeing and sweat. Tourists and locals alike would most likely meet and mingle. When joining festivities, attending events and even as simple as riding the train, we cannot avoid being in close proximity to other people. Due to this, we should always be prepared.

The summer heat would definitely leave someone sweating profusely. Tanita, a wellness-device maker, has unveiled a new self-smell checking device just in time for the season. Tanita calls it the ‘ES-100’. It measures body odor from a scale of zero to ten.

The smell checker can be used in three easy steps: turn it on, pull the sensor out, and aim it to where you want to check. The device not only checks bad smell but even nice scents. That means it can also be used for when you want to know if you reek of too much perfume or may need more. According to Tanita, the ES-100 evaluates the intensity of aroma coming from someone.

Tanita expects that buyers of the smell checker will be salarymen in the 40s and 50s age group. Tanita also recommends the ES-100 not only for office employees but also for people who wish to know how they smell. The self-smell checker device will hit the stores at the beginning of July.
