People in Ireland give donations to the Native Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic througha GoFundMe page. According to Ethel Branch, the page’s organizer, they have received more than 2 million dollars from the Irish as of May 5. The money collected will go to the Native Americans’ essentials like food and water. The GoFundMe page acts as a way for the people of Ireland to give the same act of kindness back to the Native Americans. In 1847, the Native Americans gave $170, which is more than $5,000 in present times, to the Irish when they experienced a shortage of food. A message on the page reads, “From Ireland, 170 years later, the favour is returned! To our Native American brothers and sisters in your moment of hardship.”
