The live-action remake of Disney’s “Mulan” will be available on Disney+ in the US on September 4. The UK Cinema Association respects the decision, but Chief Executive Phil Clapp mentioned that it would be “hugely disappointing” if Disney chooses to stream the film in the UK as well. “With cinemas across the UK now continuing to re-open and welcome back their customers, the decision by Walt Disney Studios yesterday to put Mulan on their Disney+ service and not into cinemas will be seen by many as hugely disappointing and mistimed”, Clapp said on Wednesday, August 5. Cinemas in the UK have been reopening since July; however, they find it hard to persuade moviegoers back due to online and postponed releases. Bob Chapek, Disney’s CEO, says that the film will be streamed in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and other Western countries, but no plans in the UK have been confirmed.
