“Pandemic” is 2020’s word of the year according to the popular online dictionary site, dictionary.com. The World Health Organization or WHO announced the global outbreak as a pandemic last March 11. The searches for the word increased to 13,575% when compared to the results for the word on the same day last year. Throughout the year the word remained in the top 10 searches. Other words such as “asymptomatic”, “quarantine”, “frontliner”, “lockdown”, and “coronavirus” were also at the top.
