The Rishiganga Hydroelectric Project dam in Uttarakhand, India bursts open when a Himalayan glacier fell into a river. Uttarakhand police reported that the incident happened at around 11:00 a.m. Indian local time. One of the witnesses said that the wall of rocks and water that fell down the Dhauliganga river was too fast, they were unable to sound the alarm on time. According to the authorities, the main flood danger has already passed, but they are continuing rescue missions and investigation about the accident. “India stands with Uttarakhand and the nation prays for everyone’s safety there,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said and wrote on Twitter.
