Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne officially joined TikTok last June 21, 2021, with a video of her singing along to her 2002 hit “Sk8er Boi”. It got even more surprising when the famous American skateboarder Tony Hawk appeared. “I just posted my first TikTok with the legendary Tony Hawk… go check it out!” Lavigne wrote in the caption.

The video is in support of the Go Skateboarding Day, a yearly event by the International Association of Skateboard Companies. In the “Sk8er Boi” TikTok video, the 36-year-old female singer wears her famous street attire—a black muscle tee top and shorts with a Chuck Taylor Converse. “Sk8er Boi” was from Lavigne’s first album in 2002, “Let Go”. Fans of Lavigne were happy watching the video, saying that the pop-punk princess’ style has not changed.
