Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? Disney is set to redo fairy tale “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” with Rachel Zegler to play the lead character in 2022. The 20-year-old actress recently played Maria in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” (opens in theaters December 10), wherein Disney bosses were delighted by her performance, therefore receiving her new lead role.

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was first shown in 1937 as Disney’s first-ever animated show inspired by the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale. The famous story has since been remade by other productions and studios. The film aims to stick to a musical style, including several songs with new twists by songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who were also behind the songs for musical films “La La Land” and “The Greatest Showman.”

Zegler also appeared in DC’s superhero film “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” The “Snow White” film is set to start in the works in 2022.
