American film and television production company Marvel Studios is once again leading in the US movie charts for its newest comic book epic “Eternals.” The movie has been released on November 5 in cinemas. In its second weekend, it has collected $27.5 million from 4,090 North American theaters. On November 14, it exceeded the $100 million mark in the US and Canada, with box office receipts at $118 million. Despite not being able to gain remarkable reviews, only a number of movies have reached $100 million in 2021 given the COVID-19 situation.

The superhero adventure travels back from thousands of years and unveils “a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants,” according to a Marvel press release. Some names in the cast include: Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Lia McHugh, Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Kumail Nanjiani, Gemma Chan, and Richard Madden. The movie was directed by Academy Award-winning Chloé Zhao, who recently won the Best Director award for “Nomadland.” Zhao was the first Asian woman to win the award at the Oscars.
