In India, people are excited about young chess champion Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, also known as Pragg. He’s going to compete against Magnus Carlsen for the World Chess Champion title. Pragg, who is 18 years old, earned his spot after a great match with Fabiano Caruana.

This big match comes a year after Praggnanandhaa surprised everyone by beating Carlsen in an online chess game. This made him the youngest player to defeat the champion since Carlsen’s win in 2013. India noticed his talent, and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cricket star Sachin Tendulkar praised him. Praggnanandhaa’s chess journey began in Chennai, called India’s “chess capital,” when he was only 2 years old. He got better at the Bloom Chess Academy, winning Asian Championships and World Youth Chess Championships. At 10 years and 19 days old, he became the youngest international chess master ever. Now, as he faces Carlsen again, Praggnanandhaa’s amazing journey is making chess fans all over the world very excited.
