The Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile is getting ready to make the biggest camera for space pictures. The camera is very heavy—about three tons—and takes very clear pictures. It is on a mountain in Coquimbo, far from Santiago. The observatory’s job is to learn more about space in the next ten years. The camera is part of a big plan. It uses a telescope and a computer to gather lots of space data. The computer can save a lot of data every night. Over time, it will have a huge collection of space information. The main goal is to understand things like dark energy and dark matter. They are a big part of space but are hard to know about. The observatory also watches space events, like asteroids and stars. People from the AURA group and Stuartt Corder lead the mission. They want to use the best technology and people’s interest in space to find out more about the universe.
