South Korean company Petpuls made an AI-powered smart collar that translates the emotions in dogs’ barks using voice recognition technology. The collar alerts dog owners through a smartphone application to tell if their pets are happy, sad, anxious, angry, or relaxed. The company has collected over 10,000 samples from 50 dog breeds. The company’s global marketing director Andrew Gil said that it helps pet owners to bond with their dogs and understand them better. During the pandemic, the global demand for pet care products increased by 34% or $138 billion according to Euromonitor data research. The population of dogs around the world also grew by 18% or 489 million.
