The Indian capital Delhi asked for help from its army in dealing with the country’s second wave of COVID-19 cases. The Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of hospitals are completely full and there is also a lack of supply of medical oxygen. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that they need the army’s help in providing COVID-19 facilities and more people in assisting the medical team. Sisodia added that they also need “urgent” help in taking the oxygen supplies to hospitals. The Indian government has ordered the soldiers to bring the oxygen supply to hospitals and retired medical soldiers to help in facilities. India now has 20 million COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic with more than 300,000 new cases per day in the last two weeks, and a total number of deaths of 220,000.
