Academy Award-nominated heartthrob Ryan Gosling is reportedly in final negotiations to play Ken in the upcoming Warner Bros. live-action movie, “Barbie”. Margot Robbie is set to portray the Mattel toy in the film to be directed and co-written by American actress and filmmaker Greta Gerwig. The “La La Land” and “The Notebook” star originally declined the role due to his busy slate, according to reports. But because of the film studio’s persistence and delayed production, Gosling’s note apparently changed. Meanwhile, the actor recently wrapped production on “The Gray Man”, a Netflix action thriller by Anthony and Joe Russo.

In 1961, Ken was introduced as the Barbie doll’s male companion, and it celebrated its 50th anniversary earlier this year with a limited-edition collection featuring the pieces of top-notch designers, including Dapper Dan. Postponed in 2019 due to the coronavirus, the live-action remake is set to start in production in early 2022 at WB’s Leavesden Studios in London, with a planned 2023 theatrical release. Among the executive producers of film are David Heyman, Tom Ackerly, Josey McNamara, Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and Ynon Kreiz, and the film’s own Margot Robbie. There is nothing yet known about the film’s plot, except that it should be completely different than what the majority expects.
