The French capital will have its first cable car line by 2025. The “Cable 1” project will run from the Parisian town of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges to the Pointe du Lac station in Creteil in the Île-de-France region in just 17 minutes. The cost of the new transportation system is €132 million (around $145 million) and is expected to serve around 11,000 people a day, with just 30 seconds between cabins during busy hours. Each cabin is set to fit up to 10 passengers. “The Cable 1 project was first suggested in 2008 as part of a larger plan to improve daily transportation around various towns. Paris is not the only European city developing a cable car system. Last year, Amsterdam approved the 1.5 kilometer-long cable car system that will travel across the IJ river, connecting Amsterdam-West and Amsterdam-Noord in 2025.
